Shorland Old Farm
By public transport
Shorland Old Farm is rurally situated. The closest train and coach stations are at Barnstaple, twelve miles away. Unfortunately, no buses come out to Challacombe any more but taxis may be booked to drive you here.
It’s also possible to take a train to Tiverton and a taxi from there (about 40 miles from Old Shorland). The taxi ride is longer, but the train route is more direct for most people, requiring fewer or no changes.
If you put on your booking form that you are coming by train/taxi, and there are others on that course doing the same, we can put you in contact with each other (if all parties are happy for us to do so) to see if you could share a taxi.
Directions from the M5
From junction 27 of the M5 motorway take the A361 towards Barnstaple.
After approximately 24 miles, turn right onto the A399, towards Ilfracombe.
After about 11 miles, turn right again onto the B3358, signposted to Challacombe and Simonsbath.
Follow this road for approximately 1 mile, and you will reach a crossroads.
Bear right, signed to Challacombe church and Barton Town.
The first drive on the right, about 50 yards down the lane, is the entrance to Shorland Old Farm.
NOTE: Entering the post code into your sat nav will not necessarily bring you here. It may well leave you stranded in the middle of nowhere!
This map shows the entrance to Shorland Old Farm. From there, follow the private drive through the grounds to the house.
