Anthony Barrow at Shorland Old Farm!

At the end of August, Anthony Barrow led a five day painting holiday here at Shorland Old Farm.  What’s more, he brought the sunshine with him!  Not only is Tony a talented and prolific artist, he’s also a great tutor.  Students from all over England – and overseas – got to watch his fascinating demonstrations in various styes and media, and then produced some wonderful work in response.

The glorious weather meant it was a pleasure to paint around and about in the grounds of Shorland Old Farm, as well as in the studio.  There was also a day out on location to scenic Lynmouth.   Everyone worked hard and there were plenty of laughs too.

Tony will be returning to Shorland Old Farm in 2014 to lead two more painting breaks, in July and October.

Open Art Weeks 2013

Fancy a week to relax, painting and drawing to your heart’s content, with nothing to distract you but beautiful scenery? A week to spend on your own projects, but in the company of other like-minded artists? Come on your own or with friends, make new friends, take your pencils and paints onto Exmoor, or to the cliffs, or down to the beach, or find inspiration here, amongst our own fourteen acres of rolling green hillsides, woods and streams. Or make use of our big, airy 24′ by 34′ studio, with its own cosy wood burning stove and kitchen facilities.

A full English breakfast and a three course dinner are included in the cost of your stay. We leave lunch up to you. There are plenty of pretty pubs and tea shops if you’re out and about, and a kitchen area in the studio for preparing light lunches from your own ingredients.  See under Accommodation for more details of the catering facilities available in the studio.
