4 – 11 July 2019

About the course

Sometimes  a  painting, although beautifully executed in every other way, can look rather flat and Anne Kerr Broken Gateuninteresting. Choosing the right colour combinations and using counterchange (light against dark and dark against light) may be all you need to put things right. This course, focusing on watercolour and/or soft pastels, will give you tips and exercises for  planning your painting to maximise colour and contrast. You will then use this knowledge when painting your own chosen topics.

Anne has always believed that everyone can draw and paint and her courses are popular because they are relaxed and fun. She believes that the way we interpret our surroundings is very individual and she encourages her students to paint in their own style. It does not matter if you are a total beginner or a more experienced artist, you can work at your own pace. Shorland has a very large, fully equipped studio, so inclement weather is never a problem.

The holiday runs from 4pm on Thursday  4 July to 10am, after breakfast, Thursday 11 July, with 6 day’s tuition and 7 nights’ accommodation.
