Residential art courses and holidays
At Shorland Old Farm, we offer a broad range of residential art courses and holidays throughout the year, from three nights to a full week
Our courses are all led by professional artists, in a wide variety of styles and media, to suit all tastes and abilities. There are fourteen acres of gardens, woodland, rivers and pasture to inspire artists, plus a dedicated, versatile studio for indoor work.
Come on your own or with friends. Non-painting partners are also very welcome. There’s plenty to keep them occupied, from wild, wide-open moorland, to beautiful beaches and rivers, to quaint villages with charming pubs and tea rooms, and outdoor pursuits of every kind.
Included in the residential holiday price is accommodation, three meals a day, and tuition costs. Meals are served on a “dish of the day” set menu basis. Please note, we are not a restaurant and cannot offer individual choices, but we do offer tasty, home-cooked food, and you won’t go hungry! For more about our catering arrangements and provision for special diets, see our Catering at Old Shorland page.
Unfortunately we cannot offer extra nights at the end of a course because our schedule is fully booked. However, there are two B&Bs in Challacombe where you can book to stay . They are Twitchen Farm and Shoulsbarrow Farm.
Visit our Art Holidays and Courses page to find out more.
We also host groups that have included art societies, walking groups and other shared interest holidays. The bed and breakfast accommodation, with lunch and dinner options available, allows small groups to tailor a package to suit their needs. For more information on what we offer in the way of catering, visit our Catering at Old Shorland page.

Self-catering at Shorland
If you’d like to visit on your own, or with one or two others, we have a two-bedroom cottage on site that we let on a self-catering basis. This also works well for those who are coming on an art course and who would like to stay longer and explore this beautiful corner of North Devon.
